Madonna Broderick

Madonna was adopted by a good family who adopted two other children following her. They were the only three children her parents had and they loved them very much. They were a good Christian family from Newfoundland, where Madonna was born. She had a good childhood, got married young had two beautiful children. Life started to go south when she was 21. She walked away from her two children and walked into a 23 year crack addiction and lived on a park bench for 20 years. As of October 29, 2000 she has been totally clean. She has lived in several levels of housing and is now in her forever house in a seniors building down by the lake.

She joined The Dream Team several years ago. She finds it therapeutic and hopes telling her story helps others to take her mess and turn it into a message of love, recovery, forgiveness and compassion. She loves to watch old movies and snuggle with a good fur baby. She has sat on several committees including the Social Accountability Working Group, Toronto Alliance to End Homelessness, Mid-West Advisory Board, Mid-West Medical and the Home Unit Takeover research committee with The Dream Team. She has two daughters, four grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She says, “my life is full.”
