Recovery For All
Recovery for All is a national advocacy campaign designed by the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness, asking Canadians to encourage the federal government to make bold investments in housing, homelessness and income support to end homelessness in Canada, once and for all.
We believe that providing supportive housing is the first step to people living independently and having healthy lives. We support the “Recovery For All” campaign because there needs to be an increase in the development of supportive housing units, to eliminate the 17,000 person waiting list in the City of Toronto.
The Dream Team believes in the Housing First approach and advocates for continued support to ensure that people have the resources that they need to maintain their housing. It costs the province only $55 a day to house someone who has experienced homelessness, addiction issues, or mental illness in supportive housing. This type of housing then allows that person to receive supports that contribute to improved self-esteem, increased productivity, readiness for work and employment, and reduced need for social assistance.
To The Dream Team, “Recovery For All” means the elimination of homelessness, an end to the stigmatization of mental illness and people living with addiction, decreased poverty, and a boost to the Canadian economy, among many other benefits.
